The Texans deserved to win that game against the Bengals. They played better on offense and defense. I don’t know how the Bengals expect to win a game if they don’t score any points in the second half. The Texans played good defense, but the Bengals had too many drops. Third down after third down, play after play, the Bengals receivers could not hold on to the ball when it counted. Not only was our offense inept, but the defense also allowed way too many big, uncontested plays.
I was at the game, and many fans were angry that Marvin Lewis didn’t throw a couple of red flags to challenge some plays. Even if they won one of the challenges, they were not executing well enough to win the game overall. It’s a tough call; they left a few big plays out on the field, but the Texans were just the better team on Sunday.
Thankfully the Ravens lost their game, but the Steelers won and now we’re tied with them for the lead in the AFC North. The next three games aren’t going to help us any. The Bengals play the Bears next week, and then after the bye it’s the Ravens and then the Steelers. The Bengals should’ve come out and played better to win this game, but they didn’t and now comes the toughest three-game series of the year. All the good will accumulated the past four weeks has dissipated. They need to start from ground zero and focus on beating the Bears. There is a huge difference between 4-3 and 5-2. The Bears, I believe, are better than the Texans and it’ll take a lot to beat them.
On a different note, the halftime ceremony featured many young people (and they looked VERY young) who were being inducted into the Marines. After the ceremony was over, the jumbo-tron had several people from Iraq who were from Cincy wishing the Bengals good luck. It makes you think how insignificant watching a game like today is when you see people who are risking their butts to save ours. Football is pretty meaningless when you see that. Good luck to all of our troops who are serving us. May they return home safely.
